What is the Borgess Foundation? How are they helping the community?

LEE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

Created in 1986, the Lee Memorial Foundation is the official fundraising arm of Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac. Today, when individuals and community organizations provide financial support, they continue the tradition of charitable giving that has always been an integral part of how we support Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital’s most urgent needs.

Tree of love tree lighting ceremony

In 2011, the Lee Memorial Foundation launched the first Borgess Tree of Love program in Cass County. Since then, the community donations to this campaign have assisted hundreds of low-income women without health insurance in receiving free mammograms and diagnostic mammography servcies at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. Last year's campaign reached over $10,000 in total donations and was proudly supported by nearly 150 area donors.

Every $8 donation to the Tree of Love campaign will help a woman receive a mammogram, as well as allow donors to honor or remember someone important in their lives. Every $80 donation will sponsor a mammogram for a woman and allow donors to honor or remember up to 10 people.

The 2017 Tree of Love campaign will begin in October and run through December. The annual tree lighting event will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in Farr Park next to the hospital.
